I left these tags about mike on a post once
and I just want you all to know this is my leading argument, my THESIS!!! on why legend of zelda skyward sword zelink is byler coded. yes. I am aware this is something only I!!!! care about!! I don't care!! it's everything to me!!!
you get it!! you see the vision!! will and mike as childhood friends growing up on this idyllic floating island, until one day will is ripped from the sky through a combination of bad luck and divine intervention, and suddenly will is stuck in the bonds of destiny itself, and suddenly mike is facing something bigger than he ever could have expected, but by god he'll do anything to get will back.
mike as a truly average teenage boy, special in no way, until the day his best friend falls to earth, and there's no doubt, he's the one who will go get him back. mike seeing things he's never seen before, fighting things he never could have prepared for, all to find will, and to find out that will is the fate-bound reincarnation of a divine being, and that part of this divine being's plans involved someone who would always be willing to chase after the reincarnation. mike becoming a hero of destiny not because of any grand purpose or for the good of the world but only because that's his friend, and he loves his friend, and he'll always chase after his friend!!
will growing up as a normal teenager, falling from the sky seemingly only from a bad storm, only to find out he's the reincarnation of a divine being, that he exists with the primary intention of stopping evil. a goddess who's needed a chosen hero, who's grand plan is to have a human reincarnation who is so loved by someone, that there was never any other option than for them to be saved, never any other option than for there to BE a chosen hero. will having to learn how to harness this divine power, while having a target on his back from the incarnation of evil itself, and also grappling with what being a divine incarnation means for his sense of self. could he ever be normal again? was he ever normal? and what does it mean for all the choices he's made, all the people he's loved, that his life was only ever the product of a goddess's world-saving scheme? did he ever truly love mike? did mike ever truly love him? or had they only been manipulated into these feelings and these roles? manipulated by a goddess who needed someone willing to die for the world, and someone willing to die for the one who would die for the world.
will and mike getting stuck at the beginning of an endless cycle, one that will involve a thousand different lifetimes and a thousand different incarnations, always having to fight this evil again, but at the center of it all was the love between two childhood friends
@allisunlight you have literally never had a bad take on this idea I’m obsessed with everything you have to say on this
